training description

The training programme provide an insight to what are the new trends shaping the forestry sector in Finland,Russia and European Union? The training also provide an opportunity to have personal conversations with many different experts and decision makers from strategic policy level to private forest owners and forest industry.

key topics

The training program consists of several modules combining different subject specific topics according to the needs of IFS officers.

The key topics covered are Sustainable forest management, inventory and planning methods, bioenergy, forest fire management, water and water ecosystem management in forestry, but also new innovative bio-products and ecosystem services based on forest resources are included in the training.

Neighboring country to Russia, Finland provides best example of forestry in European Union, and at the same time good example of cross-border policy and co-operation between Russia and EuropeanUnion.  Finland is the most forested country in European Union, more than 70% of the area is covered by forests and 10% is covered by lakes and rivers.

Russian– Finnish consortium is an excellent combination of high level academic scientific and professional training expertise completed with co-operation with governmental institutions and policy makers  and private sector knowhow from international forest companies and new innovations.

The consortium covers huge geographical area of world’s forests, fresh water areas and coastal lines  with different management practices in Russian federation as well as in EU north andcross-border areas.

Training methodology

The structure is planned so that it enables maximum possibilities for interactive discussions  for Indian forest experts with Russian and European experts and decision makers from academics to policy makers, company leaders and forest owners– but also with the counterparts of IFS officers.
